Temazcal Tequila Cantina, a new, upscale traditional Mexican restaurant, in Boston Seaport District’s Liberty Wharf.  Quite literally translated as “house of heat,” the highly acclaimed restaurant and tequila bar has introduced Boston to traditional gourmet Mexican fare found only in a handful of restaurants across the country.

The 5,000 square foot waterfront dining destination offers both indoor and expansive outdoor patio dining, as well as a 52-foot bar featuring over 300 tequilas and group dining options, with 126 seats inside, 40 seats outside and a total capacity of 166.

At the helm of Temazcal Tequila Cantina is Chef and Co-Owner Todd Hall, who has created the restaurant’s concept and menu. A James Beard Foundation honoree, Hall has opened some of the most renowned Mexican restaurants in the country, including The Adobe Grill at The Waldorf-Astoria La Quinta in California, The Prado at Balboa Park in San Diego and La Hacienda at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort in Arizona. After spending extensive time in Mexico researching the history and culture of the region’s cuisine, he brings new flavors to Boston’s culinary scene.

“Authentic Mexican cuisine is rich with history and culture, and I enjoy sharing the Mayan, Aztec and Yucatan influences with Boston diners,” said Chef Hall. “Temazcal Tequila Cantina focuses on the authentic traditional Mexican specialties diners crave, incorporating only the freshest natural ingredients indigenous to Mexico’s tropical regions and serving it all in a contemporary, open-air atmosphere,” he added. Holding fast to timeless recipes and traditional methods of cooking coupled  with the latest innovative technology, Temazcal’s full menu is presented on the Apple iPad, which is a first for any restaurant in the country. It allows diners to be introduced to each menu item’s unique regional history, accompanied by by photographs, recipes and nutritional facts.

A true “Tequila Cantina,” Temazcal offers a selection of 300 tequilas, exclusive margaritas and cocktails, and a distinctive wine list featuring boutique single vineyard wines created by remarkable California vintners.

Occupying 5,000 square feet of customized design by Steve Sousa of Sousa Design, whose impressive portfolio in Boston and NYC includes Match, Tonic NYC, Masa, Noche and Bouchée, Temazcal’s design and aesthetics are unique for Boston and reflective of contemporary Mexican design and architecture.

Patrons will enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Boston Harbor, a sprawling 52-foot bar with large, custom bar stools, chandeliers that have been imported from Mexico and hand-blown glassware direct from Guadalajara. The venue’s open-­‐air design leads to an expansive outdoor patio, complete with public docks with slips to accommodate up to 50 boats, allowing patrons to visit Temazcal “by land or by sea.”

Temazcal Tequila Cantina, located at 250 Northern Avenue on Boston’s Liberty Wharf, will operate from 11:00a.m. to 2:00a.m. seven days a week, serving lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and dinner from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The cocktail menu is offered in between lunch and dinner and until 2:00 a.m. every night For more information on Temazcal Tequila Cantina, please call 617-439-3502.
